REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION

Due to the nature of Windows it is possible that your current Windows installation has a certain video or sound codec or programs installed which may prevent DVPlay software from proper functioning. It is very hard to find which program interferes with the DVPlay software and even if you find it and remove it you may not solve the problem because many problem files will not be removed. The best solution is to do a new clean installation of Windows XP!

So - install the DVPlay software on you current Windows OS. If it works fine, you may start using it. If it doesn't work - please be sure to follow the next steps:

  1. Format your C partition.
  2. Install a new Windows XP Professional OS with SP2 on partition C. You must use ONLY XP Professional edition! Media Center, Home edition and other versions of Windows XP are not tested with DVPlay software and we cannot give you any guarantees about its proper functioning with them. SP2 is absolutely obligatory because it provides support for DirectX 9.0.
  3. Install the drivers. If you prefer using Blackmagic video card you should use Blackmagic DeckLink SP PCI based video card and you must download its driver from this official DVPlay website, because we have received reports of malfunctioning of the DVPlay software when other drivers are used. You can download drivers from here.
  4. Tune Windows XP as explained in the installation guide.
  5. Install DVPlay software. When you install FFDSHow you must turn off ALL settings except Uncompressed. If you do not follow this step you may not be able to start the DVPlay software.
  6. Do not install any other software especially video and sound codecs.

If you want only to test the software and you do not have Matrox or Blackmagic SP card, your video card must meet the following requirements:

  • to be at least a middle class video card
  • to support DirectX 9.0

Recommended video cards for DVPlay software testing are ATI Radeon 9550 or higher. You can also use nVidia video cards like GeForce 6600, but it will work only with the PC monitor and you will not be able to see any picture on the TV screen. ATI Radeon video cards are able to display image on both PC and TV monitors .
